Why do they matter?

Why do they matter?

There are fewer than 300 sumatran rhinos in the wild.

The main threats to their survival in the wild include poaching and loss of habitat.

Sumatran rhinos are threatened by the illegal rhino horn trade. Many animals have been killed for their horns which worsens the situation. The horns are sold in Asian markets as traditional pseudo-medicine which have been proven to be ineffective in healing ailments.
